Possum and Sweet Potatoes is a compilation of 435 recipes compiled from hand written pieces of paper on various forms of paper such as school notebook paper, back of envelops, and cardboard pieces. These are recipes handed down from the North Carolina hills through the Coosa, Tallapoosa and Alabama River valley including the Tennessee and Georgia Cherokee Nations, to the Gulf of Mexico shores, as well as from the hills of North Louisiana to the bayous of South Louisiana and finally from the piney woods of East Texas. Some of these recipes have been passed from generation to generation and this complication is an attempt to preserve for future generations.
The cookbook is intended for the general public and especially those that like to cook and like good food. Particular attention has been given to catering the recipes to attract men who love to cook, especially the fish, seafoods and game recipes. Special attention has also been given to the 25 diabetic recipe section following the largest group of recipes in the cookbook, Sweets. The readers will learn they can prepare excellent food by following the recipe directions, and they have the option to add or take away from a recipe to suite their own taste.
